Johanie Dupont works on how a brand reaches the inbox and what it looks like when it gets there.
The visible end of that is brand indicators for message identification: a company's logo, and the verified checkmark beside it, appearing next to every email it sends. Most brands do not realise their mail arrives unverified, and the fix is rarely just the logo. A domain has to reach DMARC enforcement first. The artwork has to be a conforming SVG Tiny Portable/Secure file, which is a much narrower format than the SVG a design team usually hands over. In Gmail and Apple Mail, a Verified Mark Certificate has to vouch for the trademark behind the logo before the checkmark appears at all, and that certificate depends on a registered mark.
The unglamorous end is everything that has to be true before any of that matters. Since 2024, Gmail and Yahoo have held bulk senders to authentication, a working one-click unsubscribe, and a spam complaint rate below a set threshold, and a marketing programme that misses any of those does not get to argue about logos. Johanie works through that sequence with ecommerce brands, in the order the inbox enforces it: authenticate, keep complaints down, earn placement, then claim the mark.
She also covers the warm-up and inbox-placement tooling that sits around marketing send, much of which promises more than it can demonstrate.
She studied at Humber College and is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
