Free-tier buyer's guide

Best free DMARC monitoring tools

Most "free DMARC" offers are one of three things: a genuinely free plan with meters on domains and volume, a free visibility tier that stops short of enforcement, or a time-boxed trial. We compared what each platform's free entry point actually includes, using the vendors' own published pricing, so you can pick a free start that matches how far you need to go.

Methodology

How we compared the field

One method, applied to every vendor

We compared the free entry point of the eight platforms below: what the free plan or tier includes, where the meters sit (domains, email volume, retention), and what only arrives once you pay.

Every fact on this page comes from the vendor's own website (pricing pages and product docs) and was checked on the date shown beside each claim. Where a vendor doesn't publish something, we say so instead of guessing, and each claim links to the source we verified it against.

This is a published-facts comparison, not a paid hands-on lab test of every platform. Palisade appears first because it's our roundup; the competitor entries stay factual, cited, and non-disparaging so the comparison stands on its own.

Evaluation criteria

  • Free tier: is there a real free plan, and what does it actually include?
  • Pricing transparency: is the upgrade path published, or contact-sales only?
  • Hosted records: does the platform host SPF/DKIM/DMARC so you avoid manual DNS edits?
  • MSP program: can a free start grow into managing many client domains?

Palisade

Our platformFree for 1 domain / 1K emails; IT from $19/mo

The Free plan covers one domain and up to 1,000 emails per month, with the agent naming every problem it finds and 14 days of report history.

Palisade's Free plan covers one domain and up to 1,000 emails per month with 14 days of history. Questions

Frequently asked questions

Should dashboard features drive DMARC tool selection?

Only after the team defines the operating work. A dashboard feature matters when it helps the team investigate sources, assign ownership, document a decision, or control a policy change. A feature list alone does not establish safe enforcement.

Can DMARC aggregate reports prove that a sender is authorized?

No. Aggregate reports show receiver observations about messages and their DMARC evaluation. The business must separately confirm whether the source belongs to an approved application and should continue sending for the domain.

What should a buyer ask about pricing and data retention?

Ask the vendor which plan includes the required domains, report retention, export options, support, user access, integrations, and contract terms. Treat unanswered commercial questions as open until the vendor confirms them in writing.

How long should a DMARC monitoring pilot run?

Only long enough to collect representative report evidence from the organization's actual sending paths. The team should wait until it can account for known senders, investigate unknown sources, and review production message evidence before considering a policy change.

Is free DMARC monitoring enough?

Free monitoring answers the visibility question: who is sending as your domain, and whether that mail passes authentication. It usually stops before the part that changes outcomes, which is reaching an enforcement policy (p=quarantine, then p=reject). Treat a free tier as the assessment phase, and check what the platform charges once you need enforcement, more domains, or longer retention.

What are the usual limits on free DMARC tools?

Meters. Free plans typically cap the number of domains, the monthly email volume they will process, and how long they retain report history; some are email-digest only, with no dashboard. The comparison table above lists each platform's published limits with a source link, so you can check the fine print before you rely on one.

How is this list ranked?

This is Palisade's roundup, so Palisade appears first and we are transparent about that. Every factual claim about another vendor comes from that vendor's own website on the date shown beside it, so you can verify each claim and weigh the free tiers yourself.
